  • September 29 is approaching

It's a few days away, but please allow me to start the birthday well-wishes for Jean-Luc. September 29 marks the day that the talent we all celebrate joined the world, and as a result, every day of hearing JLP's music is cause for celebration. I'm guessing that this year in particular represents the start of an exciting new era, with the trio project and the successful debut of the Anderson Ponty Band. From our family to yours-blessings, best wishes, good health and happiness, and thank you for all you do. Hope to see you again!

To Jean Luc, Jon, and the rest of the band, thank you for remarkable concert. It was a magical evening. I've long hoped that the two of you would get to collaborate someday. To see it come to fruition and to be able to be there for the first concert, that was a real treat. Can't wait for the tour and to see you playing these great songs together again. Jim

Merci, Mr. Thorel! I saw a recent interview with JLP (link: http://aspenpublicradio.org/post/interview-jon-anderson-and-jean-luc-ponty) which was delightful to read. In particular I enjoyed reading that JLP and his wife had traveled to Aspen to do some skiing some time ago. I had the opportunity to travel to Chamonix (France) to ski, but had to miss it (I did travel to Cervinia, in Val D'Aosta (Italy), to ski and loved every minute of it). NPR also had an article, but it's about the 1967 Monterey Jazz Festival and "Sunday Walk". With all that JLP has done since then, NPR's coverage of JLP is really unsatisfactory.

  • Anderson Ponty Band - 2015

    Victor Thorel - JLP Productions

BMB: to answer your question about concert halls, the Anderson Ponty Band is playing in this small Opera House in Aspen, Colorado because Jon Anderson has a special relationship with this theatre, and arranged for the band to rehearse there for 3 weeks and do a very first show that will be recorded and filmed. The size of concert halls when they will be touring in 2015 will probably be at least double or triple that size, may be more.

I'm glad to have been a (as best I could) contributor to the kickstarter effort. I was doing some research on the opera house in Aspen, where the September concert will take place. With about 504 seats, is this considered a typical sized venue for the potential 2015 tour? If so, I will add a shameless 'plug' (request) for Charlotte, NC...several nice venues here of that size. I am also really stoked (excited) to see this band in concert, especially seeing Rayford, Baron, and Wally on stage together. Here's hoping that US promoters will 'see the light' and create the array of concerts that the US is overdue for.

Hi Mr. Ponty, I just wanted to say hello and mention just how much I love you as an artist. I have been listening to your music for well over 30 years and it never gets old. You are the one artist that I can say I listen to pretty much ona daily basis. I was so blessed to see you in Atlanta at the Variety Playhouse in 2009 and meet and talk to you and your band afterwards. Once again thank you for making such great music that any generation of persons can appreciate. Hope to see you in the states and in Atlanta again, it was wonderful to meet a legend. Blessings to you and yours!
