  • Anderson-Ponty Band Update?

    Kickstarter Back

During the fundraising stage, the Anderson-Ponty Band Kickstarter promised it's backers that both a studio album and a live album would be produced, with frequent insider updates and an estimated release date of February 2014. Everyone's credit cards got charged in August to provide the funding.

Updates are coming less than once a month, and what has been posted has been... less than illuminating as to the specifics of the project and the progress that is being made or not being made.

In fact, Jon Anderson in a couple interviews said that this was solely a live album project, in contrast to the one live and one studio albums promised during the Kickstarter campaign.

I was wondering if you could clarify a few things for your fans and backers:

    1. What is the status of this project? i.e. Specifics of what is being done and what the plans are going forward. Minutia is good! That's part of what the backers paid for, an inside look as things develop. Not detail too boring. :)

    2. Simply put: Will there be a full studio album to go with the live album?

    3. Any tentative track listing for the live album? Any tentative track listing for the studio album?

  • To Charles Browne re 'Puss In Boots'

Charles, I second your enthusiasm about this release. In fact, I totally fell in love with 'The Carabas Waltz' and did my own piano arrangement of it (still needs some work with the left hand in the second movement). You can find if for sale on Amazon (I just checked there moments ago) in CD form, or even DVD if you want the full production.

    Jean Luc Ponty,

I have been a fan of your music even since I was introduced to fusion. Since high school, the sound of a screaming, yet gentle, violin has captivated my imagination ever since.

My brother and I, years ago, heard of submissions for music to your label and we missed the deadline by 3 days. Our musical writing style has always been influenced by you to a great degree.

I am always discovering more music by you I've never heard yet, one being the soundtrack to the Puss In Boots project you worked on with Tracey Ullman. It's the most mesmerizing work of yours I've heard personally, but yet not available to the public. =[

Anywho, thank you for so many years of beautiful music that captures the imagination, drives the heart and infiltrates every landscape this world has created.

    Thanks so much!

A truly sincere and "can't wait till you're back in the states" fan,

Dear Mr. Ponty, on your recording of Question With No Answer, I think I'm hearing 2 violins playing the melody and harmony. Is this correct? It seems to be the case also on your live concert version.
    Thank you!

    Hello Jean Luc Ponty,

I want you to know I have been a fan and listening to your music for 34 years, since I was 17 years old in high school (1979), I am now 51 yrs old and will be 52 on October 24th.  I have introduced a close friend of mine to your music last year, and since then, he would like to see you in concert and myself as well.  We both live in the Los Angeles, CA area and would like to know if you are coming to LOS ANGELES, CA, in 2015?  I would really love to take him to see you in concert.  We both love you as an artist and a funny thing I want to share with you, we both fight over which CD’s he will listen to and the ones I will listen to.

I want you to know we both love you as an artist, and you are the ONE AND ONLY ARTIST, we listen to DAILY.

Thank you for taking time to read my email and hope to hear back from you soon.

May God continue to truly and richly bless you!!

Very exited about upcoming tour dates in 2015. Please come to the New England area during that tour. A show would be worthy of a road trip, or you could sell out our lovely theater in this city. You have an enormous fan base here. I feel sure you'll play Montreal, so PLEASE put my city in just before or after that date. It's only about 120 KM away. You won't play to a more appreciative audience anywhere. Thank you for a lifetime of incredible music.
