  • 2011

    2011 has been a great year for JLP. He has received the Jazz Legend Award from the Mayor at the end of his performance with his band at the Jazz Festival in Cork, Ireland. Altogether JLP has performed 88 concerts, 75 of which with "Return To Forever IV" (36 in the USA - 21 in Europe - 6 in Australia - 6 in Japan - 2 in South Korea - 1 in Israel). The November tour in South America with the "Atlantic Years Band" was also a big highlight. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!


    JLP & HIS BAND have toured in South America in november 2011 with a project called THE ATLANTIC YEARS featuring William Lecomte (keyboards) and members of JLP's American band from the 80s Jamie Glaser (guitar) - Baron Browne (bass) - Rayford Griffin (drums).     A box set with 4 CDs entitled "ELECTRIC FUSION - THE ATLANTIC YEARS" has been released by Warner/Rhino in France in July. It contains a large selection of tracks from all JLP's albums released by Atlantic Records between 1975 and 1997, and a booklet with photos and JLP's comments on the entire period. 


    Clara, Jean Luc's daughter, has released a great new album  co-produced by Wolfgang Haffner in Munich with top jazz musicians from Germany called ECHOES. She also just released a vocal album called INTO THE LIGHT on May 26, 2011, in France, Scandinavia, the UK and soon to be released in the USA, co-produced by Stuart Bruce in England and France with guests violinists Nigel Kennedy and JL Ponty on a few tracks.

  • Tribute to Jean Luc Ponty

    Jazz violinist Mads Tolling (Stanley Clarke's band - Turtle Island String Quartet) will do a Tribute to Jean Luc Ponty by performing original arrangements of JLP's music at Yoshi's in Oakland, California on May 30, and at Amnesia Bar in San Francisco as part of the Hotplates Series of SF Jazz on June 9.   • Tour Plans for 2011

    JLP is joining the Return To Forever IV  project with Chick Corea (keyboards) - Stanley Clarke (bass) - Lenny White (drums) - Frank Gambale (guitar) for a concert tour in Australia - New Zealand in February 2011.   • 2010 Highlights

    The highlights for JLP & His Band in 2010 so far have been a first time appearance at the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival in the Caribbean in May - a 50-minute performance at the televised Jazz Awards in Lodz, Poland in June - in August, a first time performance at the Zappanale Festival in Bad Doberan, Northern Germany, a 20-year old festival dedicated to Frank Zappa - then the last concert of the 2010 season for the JLP Band with a very enthusiastic audience at the beautiful International House of Music in Moscow, Russia on November 3 - also in August was a first time appearance of the PONTY-DAUNER DUO at the St. Moritz Jazz Festival in Swizterland.
