    JJ the Ponty Fan

Man, I don't know if you guys have noticed but in the recent live versions of the struggle of the turtle to the sea there is an awesome addition in Part I not in the original. I love that part more than any other! It is like soaring on the clouds. I guess its some additional chords or melodic parts, but its nice.

I've been listening to Jean Luc Ponty ever since the late 70's. He is truly one of my music hero's. One memorable night I saw him in San Diego a couple of years ago and brought my 20 year college daughter with me (she was listening to Jean ever since she was a baby), we even had the luck of meeting him afterwards. It was a great honor, now my son is listening to him. So... do I need to go over seas to see him, or can the USA simpletons get their act together?? Joe Arriaran

  • USA tour

    JJ the Ponty Fan

No offense guys but there isn't as much of a market in the U.S. for instrumental music. Fortunately there are hot spots but I think if you aren't on the East coast its pretty hard to see consistent jazz acts. Fortunately Chick Corea and Gary Burton are coming to where I live in Arizona next year.

    JJ the Ponty Fan

The Mads Tollings album listed on the first page!?!?! Fantastic! I listened to it on spotify which also has all of Jean-Luc's records. Great covers. I'm going to buy the cd as well which came out today on amazon.com It's really great! So excited to see another musician appreciate and acknowledge Jean-Luc's music.

  • Enigmatic

    Chris Devine

    Sunderland MA USA

Just revisiting 'Enigmatic Ocean' after not listening to the old rep in a while. What a great track that is, the chord progression in this intro is brilliant in taking a simple motif of 5 notes and sustaining so much interest and harmonic tension... Ravel couldn't have done better. And the two best guitarists of the period as well... who could ask for more! Still grooving from the RTF tour that came to my little town in WMass last June (first date of the tour). My band of fusion nuts ambushed you guys at the stage door! Jean Luc, hope you will come and visit us again soon - Chris Devine PS BMB, who are you? You seem to be as much of a JL nut as me! Google me and drop me a line.

  • Plastic Idols

    Glenn Mandelkern

I just found a YouTube video which has the audio of you performing "Plastic Idols" live in 1986. It has always been one of my personal favorites because of how this piece is both driving and soothing at the same time. And the titles of your compositions are intriguing unto themselves.
