    JEAN LUC

Thank you very much for your birthday messages. Very nice of you all. We were performing in Tokyo with Return To Forever on September 29, Stanley Clarke announced that it was my birthday and about 4500 Japanese sang along with the band......it was special.

Jean-Luc, I have seen you several times since the Enigmatic Ocean tour. Apart from the fantastic music, I appreciate that you pay a lot of attention to announcing the song titles (as well as the albums from which the songs originated). Also, you never fail to introduce your band members. Even your interaction with the audience can be quite entertaining. I will be counting down the days until Spring 2012 tour!

Jean Luc, Thanks for the AYB info on a USA springtime tour!! Very exciting! All your music is so wonderful, but there's something about this line-up that I loved the most! :-) Please include Detroit in your tour, ...please, please please! Thanks again, take care ....

  • Your questions

    Jean Luc

I am glad that those of you who saw me on tour with Return To Forever enjoyed that show, thanks for your posts. Then we do everything we can to tour with the "Atlantic Years" concept in the USA around springtime 2012. It was a specific request from South America which is why it starts there.

As for David's questions (from Detroit) about how I get my sound, there is no magic formula and someone using the exact same equipment could get a different sound, as it comes also from the person who plays the instrument, bow technique etc. so it cannot be transmitted in words. Furthermore the Barcus-Berry violins I play are no longer fabricated. I simply advise that you visit my equipment page in this website so you can see what I use, go to a music store and try that and different equipment, and use your own judgment. Double stops are part of classical training.

Heard you play with RTF last night in Seattle. It was a privilege hearing such high level and highly connected musicians. You all belonged on that stage! I began following you back in the early 70's. Your record music is always in the mix in my life. Seeing you last night was a moving experience. Thank you. Jan Wade
