So happy that you will be in Brazil, especially in beautiful Curitiba! Unfortunatelly, the venue(Teatro Guaira), the promoters and no one else seems to know where to buy tickets. There is people coming from Recife(some 3500 km) also unable to find tickets. We want to see the great Jean Luc Ponty!!!!

Yes I first toured in Australia  in 1973 with Frank Zappa & The Mothers Of Invention, then with Mahavishnu in 1974, then with my first American band in 1975, and last year with Return To Forever 4 in all major cities  - where were you.....last year.......as I assume you were too young the other times ?

Hi Jean, I love your work.it's so unique. I especially dig your playing with the Mahavishnu Orchestra. I know you have done a lot of work since then. What's your fondest memory of playing with the Mahavishnu orchestra? Have you ever made it to Australia on any tours? Cheers from Australia Bradley

    Jean Luc

BMB: yes I tried a few wireless systems and I prefer a good quality cable, the sound is richer and since I don't run nor jump around the stage I can do without the wireless.

  • Wireless?

    BMB

Recently I saw violinist Mark Wood in concert. He uses a wireless (I think that's the right term) electric violin-wireless, in that he doesn't have to run a cord from the violin into an amplifier, but uses a wireless pickup instead. It allowed him a great amount of physical flexibility. Jean Luc, have you ever tried such a setup? If so, what did you think of it?

There have been a number of wonderful musicians and music throughout JLP's career. Each musician has brought magic to the performances, and the music itself has just gone from one "wow" to the next...a journey for the heart, mind, and soul. Equally fascinating are the collaboration efforts throughout the years-RTF4, Trio!, the orchestra and big band collaborations, etc-which continue to this day. There's a wonderful milestone coming in September 2012...JLP's 70th birthday....wouldn't it be great to see a blow-out celebration, with Casey, William Lecomte, Allan Zavod, Peter Maunu, Damien Schmitt, Jamie Glaser (oh yeah!), Ralphe Armstrong, Allan Holdsworth....yes, easy for me to think it up, but there are some realities that would probably keep it from happening. Even so-no harm in mentioning it. OK, where's that winning lottery ticket when I need it....

    Jean Luc

Hi Tomasa: Casey is a great drummer, it's too bad that there are no videos with him indeed, but in those days (1978-1980) the only filming was done by television networks and I don't think that we did any TV show while he was in the band unfortunately.

Mr. Ponty, I just want you to know that there is a station that plays your music daily. I've been a big fan and advocate of your music since first hearing Civilized Evil in 1981. Followed up quickly with Mystical Adventures, and then went back to get Cosmic Messgner, Aurora, Enuigmatic Ocean, and Imaginary Voyage. I've been onboard with the JLP experience every since. You've been my favorite artist for the 30 years. Mystical Adventures my favorite album. Would love o see you in the U.s. Would also love to introduce you, bring you guy onstage. All the best.
