  • Jim Mc Neely and playing with HR Big Band

    JEAN LUC

BMB: yes Jim McNeely conducted the Metropole Orchestra with Pat Metheny as guest soloist in the past. Jim played piano with Stan Getz and other famous jazz groups in the 80s and became one of the top jazz arrangers in the world. He really did a great job adapting my compositions for the Hessische Rundfunk Big Band in Frankfurt last week, it was a very exciting performance for me. Strange how 3 offers came spontaneously this year 2012, totally independent from one another, to play with symphony orchestras in Paris in April, Curitiba Brazil in early October, and with this jazz big band in Germany last week. These unusual formats for me were a big challenge, a lot of preparation but the results have been extremely exciting in each occasion.

And a big thanks to all of you long time fans for your very encouraging comments.

JLP.... Just a quick thank you for your music over the years. I have been listening to your music since the mid 70s. I was lucky enough to see you in Cleveland Ohio in '79 Two of my favorite albums are Cosmic Messenger and Taste For Passion No matter how many times I listen to any of your songs they never seem to "Burn Out" and they are just as great as the first time I heard them Thank You Mike, Ohio

Is Jim McNeely the same person who conducted the Metropole Orchestra when they performed with Pat Metheny?
