Jean Luc, it looks like the video was posted by Simion...how he got the video is another question...fascinating collaboration (and I thought that was Philip Catherine, but wasn't sure). Thanks for the information!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34A8ynCsDz4 Fascinating...when did this take place? Was it enjoyable (have you missed performing in a symphonic setting)? Other details? There are two other videos on youtube of this collaboration, for those interested.

When did Jean-Luc play with an Orchestra and a chilean pipe soloist with the name of Cosma? Awesome videos of it on youtube.

  • bow with bluetooth

    Jean Luc

Thanks for mentioning this new bow with bluetooth capability, Francesco, I imagine that the violin sound is somewhat sacrificed at the moment you want to send an effect, since the bow has to be used a specific way to trigger the effect, but it's worth trying.

  • New Equipment

    Francesco Canas

You know, I was really fascinated with your use of effects as a violinist and effects in general because of this enormous sphere of possibilities one can explore with an electric violin which a classical violinist never uses. Recently I was looking up chin rests since mine broke and on the wolf music products site I found a bow called the k bow that uses bluetooth technology to activate effects depending on how you are using it. For example if you use a lot of bow pressure it will activate an effect of your choice, if you use the tip of the bow it will activate an effect of your choice. This could add interesting variables to the way you use effects, I'm not sure exactly how it works, and I don't know if the bow itself is as good as the bows you use but its worth a try. Also I'm sure there are other possibilities for this technology and inventors would more than likely enjoy working with you a lot. Best of luck in your musical endevours, your music inspires my own playing a lot.

  • video from 1978 on youtube

    Jean Luc

BMB: thanks for posting a link to that video on youtube from the Merv Griffin TV show in 1978 where I performed my violin solo with effects. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW2DDmVNkes A lot of people are enjoying it, young people are surprised by all the technology I was using and I must say that I had forgotten I had so much equipment. The other solo "No Strings Attached" from the Live album recorded in the U.S. also in 1978 goes even further with effects, I was carrying more on the road than I used on that TV show. Most of that equipment started breaking down after years of travels, but watching that video incites me to look into new equipment again.

  • JLP and Clara Ponty

    Michael/JLP Productions

Hi BMB, concerning that video you saw on youtube where Jean-Luc is performing with his daughter Clara, I found out that Jean-Luc appeared as a guest at her show in a Paris theatre about 2 years ago. He played 3 pieces written by Clara and the concert was taped by friends of Clara.
