http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NldWdAhktvI Wow, what an event. I wish I could have been there! First of all, hearing my favorite Chick Corea composition (even though I would have liked the tempo to be a little faster, along the lines of Woody Herman's big band recording of this wonderful composition). Second, having Stevie Wonder do some of the keyboard soloing was wonderful...but imagine "Spain" if he had done a harmonica solo! With apologies and respects to Toots Thielmans, Stevie brings a level of emotion to the harmonica like no one else. Third-Jean Luc's solo...who else can do a solo that is both fiery and melodic at the same time! The warmth between the musicians is very noticeable here-thanks to all of them for such an event. What a wonderful musical colaboration.

Michael, thank you for answering my question about whether Clara will be a part of Jean Luc's US tour. I will be there. Four years ago, Clara was thinking about adding drums to her music and gave me permission to send her demos of my drums to her music. That was a great thrill for me and it's nice to hear drums on her new cd!!!! Jean Luc and Clara, now that's a nice collaboration. John D, thanks for the message.

Hi John D and Bill: Clara will open JLP's show in New York on Nov. 21, we don't know yet if there will more shows where she'll open. I doubt that her new album will be out by then, but .....yes she sings on several tracks of this new recording, and will probably sing one or two pieces from it.

Thanks, Bill, for the suggestion to check out Clara's "myspace" page. If I'm reading the notes there correctly, she did the vocals (as well as piano). If so, her voice is simply marvelous, and this new CD will be a must-have.

I am totally stoked about the upcoming U.S. tours. I may make it to one but I'll have to travel regardless. Its well worth it to see Jean-Luc in concert. It'll be fun to take my wife on the road. We'll make a good time of it.

Is Clara planning on opening up for the JLP band in support of her new album? I've listened to samples of the new cd on her "myspace" and she sounds incredible.

John D: Jean Luc performed with his band in a festival in Dubai, Middle East, in March 2006, same night as Roger Hogdson who invited JLP to jam with him on one or two songs. That's how it happened.

  • Jean Luc....and Roger Hodgson (Supertramp)...???

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zZIJ2BXsNjQ To quote from the old Monty Python show-"and now for something completely unexpected". I'm guessing that this get-together took place in Paris earlier this year, as Roger did appear there (according to his website). Is this indicative of where Jean Luc wants to go with his next project-something spontaneous? Tres interessant....

Gosh John D.... how do you dig these up... thank you. My humble opinion is great musicians and innovators, such as JLP, like to mix things up. Bands like ST would love to have him sit in.... Going back to Casey Scheuerell, I feel he performed some great drumming. I loved it. Anyhow, I see he is an admired Associate Professor of music at his alma mater, Berklee.

you are right 'Cosmic Messenger', I was only looking at the general credits in the back, but Casey's name doesn't appear for that particular song, this is really strange since it was the same band in all the tracks, except for Jean Luc's solo piece. Another printing error!
