Violins

Electric violin: Jean Luc Ponty's main instrument is a 5-string electro-acoustic violin with a low C string made by Barcus-Berry in 1980. He also plays a 5-string electro-acoustic violin made in 2005 by Eric Aceto  www.ithicastring.com

Midi Violin: JLP plays a Zeta with the old VC-225 controller or the Synthony, connected to a sampler or a synthesizer.

For live shows, JLP is using PARA ACOUSTIC D.I. a small preamp/EQ box that is also a D.I. made by L.R. Baggs, connected to the house sound board, and Lexicon reverb/delay.

Violin Bow

One of JLP's favorite bows is a "Spiccato" made by Benoit Rolland, a very talented French bow maker who lives in Boston. This bow is made of composite material and has a unique system to adjust the tension and balance of the stick according to the personal needs of the player.

Strings

JLP's violins are equipped with Helicore medium tension strings by D'Addario.

Home Studio Monitoring - Hi Fi - 5.1

"Triangle" asked Jean-Luc to test their new studio monitors "Genese Trio". It took him only a few seconds to hear their superiority in terms of true sound reproduction and richness of the harmonic spectrum, he immediately adopted them in his home recording studio. For more information visit  www.triangle-fr.com. He also has a pair of "Triangle Comete Anniversaire" for his home stereo, with Linn Classik Music amplifier, all provided and installed by Eric Montag at AUDIOTOP in Mulhouse, France. A real long time fan of his music.
