Hi Jean-Luc........I saw you many, many years ago and THINK I remember that you played a blue violin. Am I just imagining that?
Always loved the way you play....I do remember that I loved seeing you in concert, but for this old girl the memories are not always exact. Please let me know if your violin was a beautiful blue color.
Thank you........Hope you are well.

I don't usually like to talk about projects until they materialize for sure, but a few months ago I was offered to re-record my early material on DVD, so that type of project is on the table right now, however blu ray was not mentioned, I'll ask.......thanks for mentioning it!

Hi Jean-Luc,
I really enjoyed your live concert on dvd. I think it would be great idea if you performed many of your pieces from past recordings with your band in a studio setting for a Blu Ray disc which I think offers superior sound quality.Have you considered doing that?
Thanks for all your great music!!! I think your the greatest musician on the planet!!
Take care~Dale

BMB.....yes I met the guys from Supertramp in the late 1970s, but it was in 2006 that Roger Hogdson invited me to jam with him in a festival in Dubai where I was performing with my band, and he was doing a solo performance.

I think it's very cool that you do collaborations with a variety of musicians-Roger Hodgson (Supertramp), Kenneth Bager, Mark O'Connor, Sam Bush, Chaka Khan...what a great way to inspire others, get new ideas...think of the contemporary arrangement of "Parisian Thoroughfare"-how cool to take a bop composition and give it a hip-hop kind of beat?!
I'm guessing that the Roger Hodgson/Supertramp connection may go back to the 1979-1980 tour you did together?
I think it's also very cool that your ties to other musicians go back quite a ways-a bond that lasts-think of the ties with Wolfgang Dauner, Philip Catherine, Baron Browne...
I enjoyed the update to the discography about Vladimir Cosa, especially discovering that Peter Erskine played drums in that production. That's the second Maynard Ferguson alumnus that I know of that you've performed with (Allan Zavod being the other). I remember Peter when he had just joined Maynard's band, fresh from touring with Stan Kenton. He was great to talk with. Since then, Peter has done some terrific things-Weather Report and Steely Dan, to name two of them.
Hope you can come back to the U.S. soon-we miss you here. All the best!

That collaboration with Kenneth Bager happened 5 years ago. We never met until he contacted me to play on one track of his new album in 2005. I rarely play on other artists' albums but liked that particular piece. Kenneth flew from Denmark with basic tracks already recorded and I added my part in my home studio. Sounds pretty cool ......doesn't it? I am always surprised when musicians or producers whose styles are so different from mine are interested in my playing and my music.

Interesting collaboration-any background on this? Seems to be fairly recent.
