Jean-Luc has said he doesn't want to record anything but off the wall collaborations. Maybe he should join the Yo-Yo Ma Silk Road Ensemble though I don't know if they're still touring. The record I have is outstanding full of arabic rythms. That or dull a full album of classical themes with improvisation such as the Chopin prelude, a hauntingly beautiful number. There's my two cents.

I am answering your questions in order....... Adrian from Russia: Servers now have systems that recognize recordings controlled by major record labels.even my management cannot post some of my early recordings because they are owned by Warner/Atlantic Records, some others by Sony/Columbia and even WE need an authorization code which we have not been able to obtain yet, as crazy as it may appear, so we cannot grant you this authorization......sorry. Jake and Chris: yes we're taking a break from touring this year except for some isolated concerts mostly in Europe, and I'll most likely tour again in the U.S. in 2011......stay tuned. and Chris: Glad to know that you are happily listening to Taste for Passion, we played these 2 pieces you mention live on tour when the album was released, and I particularly enjoyed playing Life Cycles, but I have about 120 compositions by now, so we cannot play them all and it's hard to please every one's request, but who knows.....some day perhaps.

Hi Mr. Ponty, Just a quick note with a couple of questions: I'm happily listening to "A Taste For Passion" which I have always thought of as a great "Summer" Album. Just reminds me of times when I was young and visited Southern California with beaches and endless Summer days. Question: There are two tracks on that album that I have always thought would be great in a live setting: "Give Us A Chance" with its grooving bass under the solo sections, and "Life Cycles" with the awesome 7/8 violin solo section. Any chance that these might someday make it into your live set? Second Question: Was so happy to have you visit us in California at Yoshi's last year (thanks for all of the autographs!!). Any sign you may visit us again sometime soon? Hope you are having a GREAT summer! Many thanks for so much music that has contributed to the soundtracks of our lives...... Cheers! Chris

Hello! I want to thank for amaizin' & magical music, & apologize for my english (if it's not perfect). i've made an arrangement of Mike Tyson's fights & losses, accompanied by your sound...as Mirage reflects Human Drama very expressive...it touches deep inside. But the sound of my video compilation was blocked in youtube. They say i need a permition of possessor of right for this sound & give 'em the proof of liсence. Without this sound the video looses its effect. It's like a body without soul. Can i ask for permition to use Mirage composition for my microfilm. Here is the Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rZk6nSkNyoc I f you mail them, they will return the sound. I'd appriciate that. I dont make no money on it... Thank You

  • 5.1

Hi Paul Thanks for your message, the subject of 5.1 has been discussed before in this message board, Warner/Atlantic Records which owns my early albums had planned to remix Cosmic Messenger in 5.1 and then gave up, they said the market is too small. This is one of the reasons why I wanted to control my new recordings, and the DVD 'In Concert' released a few years ago has both 5.1 and stereo options.

Hi Jean Luc, I am a fan of your music from way back and have had great enjoyment from it. I was always struck by the quality of the sound and this has prompted my message. Are you considering a high definition 5.1 surround version of your music. I, for one, would love to hear music of your calibre in this format.

Lance, I'm so glad you posted your message. I have been thinking about you-in fact, I was going to post a message here to see how you are doing. I still cannot comprehend the depth of your loss, but I am so thankful for the support you've received. JLP's reflections and support speak volumes as well. "Watching Birds" is incredibly appropriate for this time of loss, because just as birds fly towards the heavens, that's where I know your son is. God bless you and yours.
