  • Jon Anderson/ The Kurt Edelhagen CD

    Markus

    Germany

Hi Jean Luc! Great to read about a forthcoming collaboration with Jon Anderson. Will it be a jazz-pop-songs fusion album? More electric again? Yesterday I bought the CD "JLP with Kurt Edelhagen and his orchestra". In the liner notes and on the cover is mentioned that the recording is from 1959!!! I cannot believe that. Your violin sound with sometimes lot of delays/reverbs is amazing on that record. Is it really from the late 50s??? from a fan (and violinist/composer, too )

Hi Terence.....you sure you were in the States for the past 10 years ? Since 2004 I toured in the U.S including the East Coast in 2004 - 2005 - 2006 - 2007 - 2009 and 2011.....still I agree it's been too long, according to our plans next one should be next year... 2015. Stay tuned....!

I'm looking forward to buying the acoustic trio cd. Is there a name for this band? Will there be a video made to promote the music? How exciting!

    JEAN LUC

Thanks for all your encouraging messages...! This year I am invited to perform with my band or other formats in a few different countries and continents, such as in Brazil soon....Paulo thanks for attending almost all my performances in your country, too soon to give you a setlist but it will be a mix of early material like "Mirage" among others and newer material. Meanwhile I am preparing a recording as an acoustic trio with Stanley Clarke and French Gypsy guitarist Bireli Lagrene, the album should come out in early 2015, followed by live performances including in the U.S. hopefully. Then I am also in contact with Jon Anderson ex-singer from Yes to start a project together, also with plans to tour in the U.S. in 2015. So please keep visiting this site for updates.

  • An unforgettable concert experience with you

    David Dean

    Orange Park FL USA

Dear M. Ponty... I've just discovered your website and am delighted to be able to reminisce about one of the most exciting live performances I've ever seen -- yours. I was at the New York City concert on the pier by the Hudson River in 1984, during your "Open Mind" tour, when the skies erupted in a furious thunderstorm. Not many of us in the audience left (maybe we were too scared to), but frankly, we were afraid for your safety. After all, you continued to play your electric violin in a spectacular lightning storm. But I will never forget that image of you, absolutely soaked, your hair nearly horizontal in the wind, DEFYING THE ELEMENTS on that stage. You didn't even step upstage where it might have been more protected -- you were downstage center, right in the storm, playing for us. It seemed to energize you even more, challenging the weather to do its worst -- it wasn't going to stop YOU from performing. It was positively thrilling. So, M. Ponty, thank you so much for a lifetime of music, and a thrilling concert experience nearly thirty years ago. David
